Yuko Shimizu
Yuko Shimizu, is a Japanese illustrator living and working in New York City, creating illustrations that are vibrant, colorful, and full of evocative movement. Shimizu is a renaissance woman, and trained in advertising and marketing at Waseda University, before moving to NYC to study art. Recent collaborations include Ali Wong for Netflix as well as Sports Illustrated Germany, the Smithsonian Museum and the Library of Congress among many others. Quite notably, in 2021 Shimizu was awarded a Caldecott Honor for her children’s book The Cat Man of Aleppo.
